RM1 Coin confusing

When BNM came out with this statement that the RM1 coin will cease to be legal tender effective from 7 December 2005, it has created lots of confusion to the public.

Bank Negara Malaysia announces today that effective 7 December 2005, the RM1 coin will cease to be legal tender and will be withdrawn from circulation.

The RM1 banknote will continue to be legal tender and will remain in circulation.

Members of the public will be given a three-month period from 7 September to 6 December 2005 to exchange the RM1 coins at face value without any charges at all branches of commercial banks, the main branches of Bank Simpanan Nasional and Bank Negara Malaysia's branches at Kuala Lumpur, Pulau Pinang, Johor Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.

As expected, the traders and these people will be most affected by the decision.
Company badly hit by withdrawal of RM1 coin

Our company supplies and operates coin-operated self-service vending machines throughout the country. These machines use the RM1 coin. So you can imagine how shocked and upset we were on hearing the news of the withdrawal of the coin.

Bank Negara’s decision will badly affect operators of vending machines like us.

We cannot believe that when other countries have recently released new coins, we choose to remove our most widely used RM1 coin.

The withdrawal of the coin is going to cost my company and its customers more than RM200,000 to source and fit new coin acceptors to our machines.

Who is going to compensate us? Will a new coin be released soon?

Imagine that you can no longer use RM1 coin to get your trolleys at Giant or Carrefour, or you can not use the RM1 coin at some amusement parks. I know for sure that my kids may not able to ride the merry go round horses at level 5 of SOGO after the deadline unless they manage to re-configure the machines.

Question is, why is all the sudden?. One of this day I'm gonna catch up with Mr. Londe who's working with BNM to get the real story behind all this mess.

The worst part was that the BNM's press statement came only after one particular Chinese daily had broken the news.

The Old Man

When the Old Man cried baby for his rights to speak on human rights at a human rights conference organised by SUHAKAM, P Ramakrishnan came in solid with this piece.

Remember how you trampled on Human Rights, Dr M?

Dr Mahathir Mohamad's response to the protest by some 30 NGOs that he should not have been invited by Suhakam to speak on human rights is pathetic. He reportedly asked, “Are they denying me my human rights?”

In insisting on his human rights, he has forgotten the human rights that he and his government had denied to thousands of citizens. What about their rights, Mahathir? Did you ever pause to ponder about the rights of those who were locked up based on unsubstantiated and dubious claims? Did it bother you that they lost many, many years of their freedom while you were in charge of this country? Did it ever disturb you that many wasted their best years of their lives locked up in your jails without any recourse to justice?

Do you remember that on Oct 27, 1987 during Operation Lallang, more than a hundred citizens were arrested and detained under the obnoxious ISA while you were the prime minister, home minister and justice minister? They were denied the right to a fair trial and subjected to a grave injustice: many of them were harshly interrogated, cruelly locked away in solitary confinement, and mercilessly tortured. What justice did you extend to them?

You denied our right to information by legislating an undemocratic law that kept under wraps many of the abuses of your administration. This Act protected those who should have been prosecuted. Do you remember Mohd Ezam Mohd Nor's case? He was found guilty of possession of a document that was classified under the Official Secrets Act and was convicted and sentenced to two years’ imprisonment.

But you must know, as we do, that Ezam's conviction only confirmed that there was a document from the public prosecutor recommending the prosecution of certain top Umno people who were holding important government posts. Didn't this sordid episode deny Ezam's right to expose corruption in high places?

And what about Anwar Ibrahim? Were his human rights any concern of yours? He was handcuffed, blindfolded and beaten up in a cowardly manner by your top police officer. He was then found guilty of what were widely believed to be trumped-up charges and languished in jail for six years. Were you concerned about Anwar's human rights? Instead, you came up with that flippant and silly remark that Anwar's injuries could have been self-inflicted.

When your position as Umno president was in danger, the bonus system was introduced in the Umno elections to provide 10 bonus votes for every nomination received. As the incumbent you had the advantages that came with your position which put any likely challenger under a great disadvantage. Were you bothered about the human rights of your prospective challengers?

And during the general elections, what human rights did you extend to the opposition? Did they get equal airtime? Were they given enough time to campaign and put forth their programme to the electorate?

Did you extend the same development funds to opposition MPs that you gave to Barisan MPs? What about the human rights of those people who elected opposition MPs? Did you give a thought to them? Instead, you punished the people who elected the opposition MPs and denied them their right to development funds. The money you denied these people did not come from Barisan Nasional coffers - but that didn’t bother you one bit.

How did you treat the democratically elected PBS government? Were the human rights that you now claim for yourself ever extended to the people of Sabah? And how did you treat the people of Terengganu who threw out the Barisan Nasional government in 2000? After the Barisan’s defeat, you stopped the petroleum royalties that the state government had been enjoying for so many years. What about the human rights of the people of Terengganu and Sabah and their right to development? Did it ever prick your conscience?

What about the human rights of the natives of Sarawak? Didn't your government ride rough-shod over their rights when the Bakun Dam project bulldozed over their human rights? How many were displaced and did they receive adequate compensation for their forceful displacement? Didn’t they lose their right to their native customary land and their traditional way of life?

It was the writer, Mary McCarthy, who said it all: “An unrectified case of injustice has a terrible way of lingering, restlessly, in the social atmosphere.”

In your case, there were countless abuses and numerous human rights violations
during your long tenure of office. These cannot be so easily forgotten and glossed over. That is why we feel that your presence at the Suhakam Human Rights Day conference tomorrow is most inappropriate.

The writer is president of Aliran.

Enough said. Serves you right Old Man.

Langit ke Tujuh

I like this song.

It has been getting heavy airplay lately.

Langit ke Tujuh

Dulu kau pernah berkata
Andai kata kita bercinta
Akan kau bina mahligai
Yang terapung di langit ke tujuh
Sememangnya seakan khayalan belaka
Aku tak percaya.....

c/o
Kata-katamu hanya mimpi di siang hari
Kemarau panjang
Berpanas jua
Berteduh tidak

Hati kecil tak memahami
Mahligai itu ada di syurga
Terangilah mata hati
Agar dapat ku mengerti....

The song was composed by Azmeer and sung by Sharifah Zarina.

May be because of the feel that the singer put in the song.

Mmm......the melody has been ringing in my head since morning. So infectious.

Warning: Don't google search on the title. You may get into langit ke tujuh Ayah Pin. :)

Oh God please help

Oh God.................please help me.

So "£%^&&@ lazy today. Monday blues? Whatever.

Only managed to finish up and sent the first draft of the Info Memo to my client this morning. They were expecting it since last Thursday.

Let see, what else do I need to clear on my table:

(1) Opinion on conflict of interest on ABS issue. The merchant banker has been calling me since last Friday;

(2) Review comments and revise the documents for another PDS issue. I know the client will be calling soon;

(3) Application to Bursa for an off market transaction. Shuck! Why they didn't do it last time together with the earlier block of shares?

(4) An investment agreement for a client who wants to invest in a money changer business (not money laudering okay!). What they call it in malay? Pengurup Wang?. Where do they find that word in the first place.

Aarggggh. Tensionnya.

And my Maxis Data Card is not working. Cannot get connected. S****d. Always not functioning when I really needed it. Have to go to the Maxis centre again. It will be my third time!.

Commercialism in Sports

I have said this in my earlier posting. Yes, it is time to change.

IBF want female players to ‘get glamorous’

The International Badminton Federation (IBF) are calling on their female players to wear more glamorous outfits, complaining that the traditional style of dress is too old fashioned.

The IBF deputy president Datuk Punch Gunalan said at the World Championships in Anaheim on Sunday that he wished the women would dress more like Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova.

“We are too old fashioned,” Gunalan said.

“Nowadays the girls are becoming a little better dressed. We need to be in the fashion world. So we would like to see players wear more appealing clothes to the public. By appealing, I mean use it for everyday use. So when people walk around, they would want to wear it. Unfortunately we are far away from that. Let’s take Maria Sharapova. Look at her tank tops. It is pretty.”

New Zealand bronze medallist Sara Runesten-Petersen said that she is in favour of anything that will attract more fans to the sport as long as it isn’t forced on them.

“I wouldn’t mind it. I can’t wear skimpy tops because of my shape but some of the girls have beautiful bodies so there is nothing to hide,” said Runesten-Petersen.

“Lots of girls wear skirts and skimpy tops why not when they play sports?

“I wouldn’t want to play in just a bra but a (tank) top is fine. Why not when you are a girl, look like a girl. But it should be up to the individual and not enforced.”

Olympic champion Zhang Ning, of China, said that she had no objection as long as it was done tastefully.

“It is acceptable to me,” said top seed Zhang. “The tank top is all right, just not the string top.”

Gunalan said that he was talking to attire manufacturers about coming up with some new ideas.

“There is too much monopoly right now for one company, Yonex. We need to get companies like Reebok, Nike and Adidas involved,” he said. – AFP

Yeah, they should sack the designers at Yonex. The earlier they do that, the better.

Cerita Julia

Cheewah, tajuk bukan main bagus lagi..

Dapat cerita ni dari e-mail sorang kawan.

Subject: Fw: Pandu cermat jiwa selamat

"Abang ni, pakai tu elok-elok la sikit," kata Julia lembut sambil membetulkan pakaian Ahmad. Ahmad tersenyum memandang isterinya.

"Cantik isteri abang hari ni," Ahmad mencubit pipi Julia lembut.

"Ayah, ayah, cepat la yah," Liz dan Lin meluru masuk ke bilik kerana dah tak sabar-sabar nak bertolak pulang ke kampung.

"Yelah, yelah, ayah dah siap ni."

Julia hanya tersenyum melihat suaminya itu melayan karenah anak-anak mereka yang comel dan manja.

"Abang, dah lama kita tak balik kampung macam ni,ye?"

"Iyelah, maklumlah abang ni sibuk dengan urusan perniagaan. Baru kali ni abang ada peluang untuk cuti panjang." Ahmad berkata kepada isterinya tercinta.

Perjalanan daripada KL ke Teluk Intan mengambil masa lebih kurang empat jam. Liz dan Lin dah pun terlelap kat kerusi belakang. Begitu juga dengan isterinya, Julia.

"Tak sabar rasanya nak tiba kat kampung," Ahmad berkata dalam hati. Sedikit demi sedikit Ahmad menekan minyak keretanya.

Ahmad cilok kiri, cilok kanan. Habis semua kenderaan dipotongnya. Bangga betul Ahmad masa tu.

"Sabar bang, sabar. Biar lambat tak apa.... jangan laju sangat bang, Julia takut." Julia cuba memujuk Ahmad supaya memperlahankan kenderaannya.

"Rileks Julia, tak ada apa-apa," Ahmad terus memotong bas ekspres di depannya tanpa was-was.

"Haaa..kan, tengok. Tak ada apa-apa kan?" kata Ahmad setelah berjaya memotong bas ekspres tadi.

"Sudah la tu bang."

"Ha... tu ada satu lagi bas ekspres. Julia tengok abang motong dia aaa...."

"Julia....bangun nak," sayup-sayup terdengar suara emaknya.

Julia membuka matanya. Dia terlihat emaknya di situ. "Mana abang Ahmad mak? Macammana dengan suami saya, mak? Liza, Linda....mana anak-anak saya
mak?"

Bertubi-tubi Julia menyoal emaknya. Julia tak dapat menahan kesedihannya lagi. Julia menangis semahu-mahunya di depan emaknya. Emaknya memandang Julia tepat-tepat.

"Macamana dengan suami Julia mak, abang Ahmad?" Julia masih terus menangis.

PANGGG!!. Kepala Julia ditampar oleh emaknya dengan tiba-tiba. Julia terdiam. Kenapa emaknya buat dia macam tu?

"Banyak la engkau punya suami! Muka dahlah tak cun, study pun malas, kerja pun takde, ada hati nak berlaki. Apa punya anak dara la kau ni?? Tu la, tidur lagi senja-senja macam ni! Dah! Bangun pegi sembahyang! Asar pun dah nak habis!"

Emaknya terus merungut sambil berlalu keluar.......dan Julia tersengih keseorangan.Rasa macam nak masuk dalam tin biskut!.

hahahahahadhari.......

Spiderweb

This post is to test the new 'add image' feature that Blogger just incorporated. Let see.......how it works.......

Whoa that's rather easy. Only thing is that it takes a while to upload the picture.

These are my daughters with their cousin.

I'd actually uploaded another 2 pictures. But didnot know where they ended up.

Minyak Naik?

Aarrgh - Part 1

Heard over the radio this morning that PM quashed the rumours about the increase in petrol price which was expected to take effect today.

Buang masa aku balik rumah cepat-cepat lepas main futsal malam tadi and then isi minyak kereta NAZA Ria yang memang jenis telan minyak punya kereta.

Note: I even got an email from a staff about the purported price increase together with a gentle reminder that salary revision is overdue. Aaarrgh....

Aarrgh - Part 2

Maria Sharapova lost to Venus William in the Wimbledon semi-final match last nite (Malaysian time).

Venus 1 Goddess 0

HOWEVER hard she tried, however loud she grunted, Maria Sharapova could not save herself at Wimbledon last night. The Princess of tennis and reigning champion was overpowered and outshrieked by Venus Williams as the American booked her place in tomorrow’s final. The Russian teenager just crumbled against the force of Williams, who won 7-6 6-1 in 101 minutes.

This was the best match of these championships — but it was also the noisiest.

Excerpt from The Sun Online.

Aarrgh - Part 3

Tak de sorang pun Malaysian badminton players survived the third round of Singapore Open. Singles and doubles sama aje kantoi.

Malaysia Boleh

A joke making rounds.

After digging to a depth of 100 metres last year, Russians scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 1000 years, and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network one thousand years ago.

Not to be outdone, in the weeks that followed, American scientists dug 200 metres and headlines in the US papers read: 'US scientistss have found traces of 2000-year old optical fibres, and have concluded that their ancestors already had advanced hi-tech digital telephone 1000 years earlier than the Russians.'

One week later, the Malaysian newspapers reported the following:

'After digging as deep as 500 metres, Malaysian scientists have found absolutely nothing. They have concluded that 5000 years ago, their ancestors were already using wirelss technology.'

Proud to be a Malaysian.....

Serve Them Right

Two brothers being sentenced to caned with six strokes of rattan by the Syariah High Court in Kuantan for drinking alcohol in public. Read more about it here. In pleading leniency, the offenders told the court that they were of lower income group. Stupid fools. If you don't have the money, go and drink syrup - it's much cheaper that the stouts that you drank.

That should serve them a good lesson and other Muslims too. Islam prohibits drinking of liquor. Period.

Lawak Pak Pandir

Dah lama tak update this blog. Dapat lawak ni dari email seorang kawan.

Cerita 1

Satu hari kecoh Pak Pandir panggil wartawan datang kerumah dia. Bila wartawan-wartawan sampai mereka pun bertanya "Ada apa yang menarik ni Pak Pandir?".

Pak Pandir pun kata.."Tenguk ni..aku tanam pokok rambutan tapi tumbuh pokok ubi kayu..hehehe".

"Waaa pelik ni Pak Pandir..cuba cerita kat kami..."

"5 bulan dulu aku ada tanam pokok rambutan kat sini..aku ingat lagi sebab aku ada tandakanya kat sini..."

"Dengan apa Pak Pandir tandakan?" tanya wartawan....

"Dengan batang ubi kayu", jawab Pak Pandir.

Cerita 2

Kapal terbang sampai..Pak Pandir pun naiklah. Masuk jer kapal terbang, Pak pandir terus ambik tempat.

Sebelum kapal terbang berlepas, pramugari pun memeriksa penumpang supaya semua duduk ditempat masing-masing dan bersedia untuk berlepas..

Sekali pramugari nampak Pak Pandir duduk kat kerusi bisnes klass.. setahu
dia.. tak ada penumpang bisnes klass hari tu..

Dengan budi bahasa pramugari tu tegur.

"Pakcik, Pakcik tak boleh duduk kat sini.. boleh tak Pakcik pindah duduk
dibelakang..?"

"Eh.. bagus sungguh bude bahasa orang kapal terbang nii (pramugari)..takpalah nak.. Pakcik selesa dah kat sini.."

terlampau) datang silih ganti..sakit kepala..

Dia pun keluar tengok..pramugari sorang tu cerita..

Pilot tu pun pi lah kat Pak Pandir.."Pakcik.. boleh tengok tiket?"

Pak Pandir kasi tiket..

"Ooo.. Pakcik nak pi KL yer Pakcik?"

"yer nak..."

"taapi Pakcik.. kerusi nii pi Johor Bahru Pakcik.., kerusi belakang baru
pegi KL!"

"yerker nak.. nasib baiklah anak bagitau.."

What day is today?

I'm confused.

What day is today. I know today is Thursday, but are we celebrating anything today?

I was confused because I saw a lady selling flowers (look like an Indonesian employee being sent by her florist-boss) in front of my daughter's school main gate this morning. There was a small manila card that read, 'Bunga untuk Hari Guru'.

Asked my daughter, "Hari ni Hari Guru ke?", because I thought the Teachers' Day was yesterday. "Tak de lah" was the reply I got. Normally schools throughout the country will celebrate Teachers' Day on the same day.

Later heard over the radio (ERA and MixFM) that today is "Hari Jururawat Sedunia".

Poor flower lady, she should be selling flowers in front of HKL.

Car-less

This picture was taken yesterday morning when I was crossing the road to get to my favourite coffeeshop for breakfast. It was about 8.40 a.m. The road was so deserted I thought even a snail could make it to the other side safely.

I could proudly say that I contributed to this car-less scene because I took LRT to work yesterday instead of driving.

The truth is - many roads were closed because of the NAM meeting. So I decided not to take the risk. Better to take LRT than to get stuck in the traffic jam. Lucky me.

Greed

Today's the Star and Malay Mail reported a (stupid) millionaire lost his RM3.0 millions to black money scam and a lady interior designer lost her RM200,000 in a Nigerian e-mail scam.

Why are these people are soooo f***king stupid? Though it was their money, but why are they so dumb? Didn't they ever read newspapers? Similar cases have been highlighted too many times in the news and they still fell prey to this bogus scheme. According to the paper, this year alone 12 cases have been reported with losses amounting RM3.9 million. Last year, there were 24 cases with losses amounting to more than 1.0 million.

The police, quite rightly pointed out that they were also investigating the victims as the police believed that the victims must have realised they were getting involved into something illegal but went ahead anyway, driven by greed.

Yes, there's nothing more than greed. In the case of the millionaire, he already have millions (of course, otherwise he would not be called one), three wives and 13 kids (as reported in the Star). He sold off jewellery belonging to his three wives as well as two houses and a car to raise the money and made out 20 payments totalling RM3mil over the past year before it dawned on him that he had been duped. What else do you want? More money?!!

Lots of money but nothing in the head. In this case, his eyes and mind were 'blackened' by GREED. Enuff said.

Pindai

Can you guess what "Pindai" is?

Clue - its a malay word. And I just discovered that there is such Malay word when I went to Low Yat Plaza with a friend today.

Both of us were heavily bogged down with works but just too lazy to continue and too tired to finish them. Needing a break, I called Y, he told me he was bored and was reading newspaper to kill off his time. Fetched him and off we went to Low Yat. Spent more than two hours at one particular computer shop. I bought a new sleek looking rectractable mouse for RM35.00 while my friend bought the similar mouse together with other stuffs.

It was while browsing there I saw these words "Cetak, Salin dan Pindai" written on a photo printer box. Curious, I checked the English version - it says, "Print, Copy and Scan".

Fuh, lucky I do not need to take any Bahasa exams anymore.

P/s: My kids sure gonna love me more today. I bought them new cartoon DVDs.

Geram @ Era

Heard this over Radio ERA when I was driving to office this morning.

Caller (female) : I geram sangat kat satu mamat minggu lepas.
K1 (radio announcer1) : apa dia dah buat kat awak?
Caller: dia bawak kereta kejap-kejap laju kejap-kejap brek.
K2 (radio announcer2): masa tu awak tengah drive kat belakang kereta dia lah?
Caller : ya
K2: awak ada nampak tanda 'P' tak kat kereta dia?
Caller: tak, takde
K1: agaknya dia saja nak test skill memandu awak kot?
Caller: sebenarnya ade ceritanya......bila saya dah geram sangat saya pun saing dengan kereta dia. Rupanya....ada makhluk kat atas peha dia....
K2: apasal? dia bawak kucing ke?
Caller: [tergelak] ada perempuan.....saya geram sangat, saya terus potong kereta dia dan buat emergency brek....mencanak dia....
K1 & K2: [gelak gila]
K2: lepas tu apa jadi?
Caller: lepas tu barulah si pompuan tu bangun betul-betulkan tudung...
K2: betul-betulkan kerusi [gelak lagi]
K1: masa tu siang hari ke tengah malam?
Caller: siang hari buta...lepas tu dia dah malu agaknya...terus dia pecut kereta. Hisssh, geram betulll....

Fuuh dahsyat makhluk2 kat Malaysia nih. Macam-macam ada.....

To K & K (Kiran n Khairil) you rocked this morning.

p/s - dulu aku tak de lah suka sangat kat Kiran masa dia on air sebelah malam dengan one lady announcer, tapi sejak dia pair dengan Khairil dalam 'Pagi di ERA', menjadi-jadi betul. Memang tak miss dengar pagi-pagi on the way to office.

Broadband, that is not

Bloghopping and surfing is extremely testing my patience in the last few days because of the lousy services from Streamyx. Jeff is screaming mad and others as well.

It's a kind of habit to me to click on some sites and read blogs in between doing my works. Just to keep up with the latest news and read some interesting blogs - at the same time it helps release some stress.

So it's time we users to gang up and demand our rights to quatlity services by these ISPs. There is online petition going on right now. Please click here to sign up.

The last time we had this online petition on Maybank2U fees proved to be successful and showed that if we scream loud enough, those st***d people will listen.

Pokku's magic

I was mesmerised with this beautiful poem I came accross in Pokku's blog.

It's no ordinary poem to me. I read, read and read again and again. Serio bulu rhoma. And I don't realised that the pronounciation/recitation in 'Merang language' could be so different.

Today is the First of April

S*********t. Should have known.

But I don't expect Malaysiakini would also follow these April Fool's day thingy. See this and this. Tak guna betul.

I cannot forgive M'kini for this stupid thing.

The one who wrote the piece must be suspended like these two pranksters.

Bloghopping will never be the same with the sudden demise of GongKapas Times. Aiyoo. At first I thought there must be something wrong with blogger.com when I could not access to GKT for my daily dose of DZ's musings.

It's look like other people are similarly clueless. You may want to read about it here and here.

Haze haze go away

Could not stand the heat and haze for the last few days. KLCC was barely visible from my office last Friday.

Thank God it rained yesterday evening and the night before. Last night, I could see the stars again.

Heartbroken on the V-Day

Came back early from office. Commented to Wife that the auto-gate seemed a bit off.

Beloved Wife smiled and quickly owned up her 'wrongdoings' - she admitted that she had crashed onto the gate while she was maneuvering our new family car to enter the house after fetching kids from school earlier today. The front bumper was dented and damaged a bit about two inches from the plate number.

But what to do? Takkan nak marah kot, tak sengaja.

Dearie, you break my heart on the Valentine's Day! Aduuus, .........

Quote of the day

A hadith quoted in the wedding card of Helmi & Khairiyah (Saturday, 12 Feb 2005/3 Muharam 1426 Hijrah, Taman Ayer Molek Melaka)

mmmm.

Farewell to a friend

Received these messages from a friend,

"kawan kita meninggal mlm td kul 9 mlm eksiden kat KL. arwah FZD. tlg bgtau kawan2. ari ni kebumi kat bkt katil melaka. From: Abu S. 7:43am 1-Feb-05"

"FZD meninggal, accident motor, ada kat hospital universiti, call GTR 4 d detail at <012***>. From: Abu S. 7.45am 1-Feb-05"

I was driving back from sending off my daughter to school when the messages came in. I was stunned. shocked. Wanted to call Abu to verify but that'd not be necessary. I'm sure he would not be playing jokes on this one. Took a while to recover from the initial shock. All thoughts about him came rushing to my mind. I have a lot of memories with FZD. We were classmates from form 1 all the way to form 5 and had spent 5 wonderful years in SDAR. He was good in hockey and played rugby for the school. Was popular among the seniors. Didn't expect to lose a dear friend a day after celebrating my 36th birthday.

Quickly forwarded the messages to other friends. I was surprised that none of my friends called me to verify or asked for further details. Perhaps they were also stunned with the news. Only at about noon Kamal called and we agreed to organise collecting contributions to be forwarded to the family of arwah.

Later, some details trickling in our yahoo e-groups:

aku, LNDL, GTR, guntur dan beberapa lagi kawan kita sempat pergi menziarahi arwah sebelum dikebumikan. menurut landol injuries mostly to the body. arwah was hit and thrown to the opposite lane before being hit by another vehicle. this happened somewhere along LDP near puchong. arwah left behind a wife and 4 beautiful kids. semoga Allah mencucuri rahmat ke atas rohnya.

Another friend wrote,

aku tak leh tido malam tadi mengenangkan arwah, terbayang2 muka dia ditambahkan lagi dengan tangisan anak dia yg paling kecik yg dok jerit "ayah..ayah.." masa arwah sedang dikafankan. Mak dia cium pipi arwah bagai tak nak lepas sampaikan bapa dia cakap "cukup lah tu Ibu...". Alhamdulillah aku sampai ngam2 lepas jenazah baru mandi, dia orang tengah lap dan sikat rambut arwah yg panjang. Kepala dan muka tak de apa2 injury may be becoz arwah pakai fullface helmet.

May be ada yg sampai after 3pm , aku sendiri tak sempat jumpa UP.

Happy Birthday

Today is my birthday and I'm officially 36.

The staffs from my department organised a small do for me. They ordered pizzas and bought a cake. Even then, as always, I was not really feeling at ease with this birthday celebration thingy - big or small. May be because I came from a simple kampung family where no emphasis was made on birthdays.

When I was a kid, birthday passed by just like any other day. In fact, I always thought that I grew a year older on the first day of the year. You know, when you moved from Darjah Satu to Darjah Dua, Darjah Dua to Darjah Tiga, from primary to secondary school and so on.

You were proud when your father told his friend that you're getting 'bigger' (sudah besar) and that you're entering a new class next year or when you were given certain 'responsibilities' marking your coming of certain age. The responsibilities that were earlier only reserved for your elder siblings.

And I didn't remember any of my friends celebrating birthdays or sending birthday cards when I was in my former secondary school, that's a big no no. Tak Rock lah. We macho guys tak main birthday - birthday nih.

So here I am now at 7.15 ++ p.m, still in the office trying to reflect on this birthday thingy and a client just called asking for favour whether I could draft and send them an urgent document by tonite.

Meanwhile, it's still raining out there and I had just sent my car for wax and polish at the car care centre downstairs. Adusss!!!.

Monday Blues

No, I'm not talking about my Monday blues.

It seemed that my daughter was having problem getting up for school every Monday since she started her formal primary education. I found that she could get extremely difficult to wake up and to a certain extent, protested when I tried to wake he up for school on Monday morning.

This morning was no exception. She even cried when I carried her to the bathroom after all the coaxing and pujuk rayu did not work. But father has to do what father has to do. I poured on her with two gayung(s) of water.

"You don't want to brush your teeth, fine. But I'm still sending you to school".

Wife helped her with the school uniform and I sent her off to school. She was quiet all the way to school and I just put on my 'serious - no nonsense' face. Tak nak bagi can. But once we reached the school compound, suddenly just in a split second, she just changed to her real cheerful self. She salam(ed) with me, kissed my hand and pull her trolley bag towards her classroom - just like that - as if nothing happened at home 30 minutes ago.

Terasa macam buang karan aje pujuk rayu pagi tadi.

Not so good day

To cap the miserable day yesterday, I watched MU being beaten 2-1 by Chelsea in the second leg of the League Cup Semi-final and then watched the beautiful Maria Sharapova lost to Serena Williams (2-6, 7-5 and 8-6) in a thrilling Australian Open semi-final. Arrrgh.

Hope to get good rest during the weekend. Planned to attend my chambie's wedding in Kajang before hitting the highway back to Ayer Keroh in our new family car.

Terkorban before Hari Raya Korban

Alia posted her Raya Korban's picture so I decided to post mine.

The only difference is that, instead of the normal sacrificial animals, the korban in this case is my ....isk, isk... beloved car and yang terkorban is ..... me (read my pockets).

May be my beloved car was mad at me or merajuk because I'd posted another car's pictures in my previous posts on Friday the 14th.

My car was broken into and that someone stole my SmartTag. Can you believe it? And I had to spend close to RM500 to replace it and spent the whole day going to the police station, waiting to make report, waiting for the police's photographer to take pictures of the car, waiting again at the workshop for the replacement parts to arrive, waiting for the cermin to be fixed, waiting waiting and waiting until I dozed off at the workshop. Lucky the workshop has a large and comfortable sofas and I could take a nap while watching AXN channel.

Dah nak jadik - that's what takdir is all about, I suppose. The car was never parked outside my house compound before. But that fateful night (Monday the 17th) when I came back from office, I saw my car was nicely parked by my wife right in front of the gate. Wife has been driving my car for the past few days because I had traded in her Kembara and her replacement car was pending registration. So I parked my borrowed office car at the side of my house.

Next morning, I rushed out to send my daughter to school and was heading to office when I received a panic call from my wife that the driver's screen had been smashed. Made a U-turn and quickly made a call to the nearest police station on what to do next.

Being the first time victim, I was thinking that the police would be coming to my house together with their forensic team to dust my car for fingerprints and searching for clues (too much of CSI I guess), but alas, this was what transpired:

me: saya nak buat report pasal kereta saya kena pecah...
p: kat mana ni Encik?
me: kat Tmn Bukit ........
p: ada apa2 yang hilang?
me: err...rasanya takde
me: tapi...bukannya polis kena datang tengok kat tempat kejadian?
p: kereta tu boleh jalan tak?
me: boleh..(arrgh!!!! memanglah kereta tu masih boleh jalan sebab bukan enjinnya yg rosak)
So, cleaned up the mess in the car and went to make police report even though at that time I was not sure whether or not I wanted to make insurance claim on the damages. More importantly I thought that by making the report, the police will intensify their crime prevention rounds in my neighbourhood.

Stated in the report that no valuables were missing because at that time, I totally didn't realise that the SmartTag was missing. But thank God the thief didn't take away the new sunglasses that I bought for Wife last weekend and also my Motorola Bluetooth earpiece. Those things combined could cost me another RM800. Pheww.

Hello? mana pegi gambar korban aku tadi?

The driver's side of my screen that was smashed. The picture was taken after I had cleaned up some of the mess because I need to drive the car to the nearest police station.
